Chinese New Year ending soon

Chinese New Year 2011 is ending soon with tomorrow being the 15th day of CNY also known as Chap Goh Mei. This marks the end of CNY and some have the tradition to go and throw the mandarin oranges to the sea/river. For some, it is also known as the Chinese Valentine's Day. In fact, the Ang Moh Valentine day had also just pass but it was a rather uneventful day. Why? Cause I had to work till sooooo late for my new work. In fact I am leaving office around 8+ to 9 daily. Also not to mention, Awal Muharram which is prophet Muhammad birthday was on the day after Valentine's day. For that day in Malaysia, all entertainment outlet including karaoke and cinemas had to be closed on the day before from 7pm until 7pm on the actual day. So I guess most lovers only managed to go for dinner that day. What a shame!

Back track to this weekend. What happened over the weekend. Basically many people are holding CNY open house as it is the last weekend of CNY. My ex manager at Kurnia Esther invited me to her place open house but I was unable to make it as I was attending my wife's aunt CNY open house. Basically it's a gathering of her relatives with tons of kids. On Sunday, it was my relatives from my dad's side gathering. They have this gathering every CNY at Meisan restaurant at Mutiara Hotel. I took some pics which I would share here but just a little. Dun wan to look like a photo freak that keep on snapping away. Hehe.

Chinese New Year 2011

Alas, Chinese New Year holiday is over and I had been lazy with not write on my blogs for days. Oh well, gonna write what happened for the past few days which is the Chinese New Year holiday.

On last wednesday, it was Chinese New Year's Eve and that is when everyone have their reunion dinner. Well mine is reunion lunch as always and poor me had to work till 2pm that day. Worse still, I had an examination on that day. Lucky I studied hard and managed to complete my 3 hours paper in 1 and 1/2 hour time. Hehehehe. After that I rush home to have my reunion lunch. Usually we will have steamboat but this year my
mum decided to have a normal
lunch. We had fish, abalone and broccoli, roast duck, fish maw soup and 'wu xiang'. Sigh, forgot to take picture if not I can post here. At night, I went over my in laws place with my wife and that's about it for our CNY eve.

On first day of CNY, it's a pretty lazing day where we spent most of our time at home. My small aunt and uncle dropped over but beside that it was a pretty uneventful day. During night time, i decided to catch a movie with my wife. Our initial choice was to watch All's Well End Well 2011 or I Love HK but both of them are full already. We settled for Mr. & Mrs. Incredible. It was quite a light hearted and hilarious show. Quite a good entertainment if you ask me. Oh yah, on top of that, we found out a new privilege for Citibank card holders at TGV. First you get, buy 1 free 1 movie tickets promotion on weekends and you get to buy movie tickets at RM10 on weekdays compared to the normal price RM14. Best of all, there is a priority queue for Citibank card members!

On second day, I drove my wife to visit her grandmother's place in Kluang. Her place was packed with children as her grandchildren were back to visit her for CNY. We stayed for a night there after a sumptuous dinner at a local restaurant. That night however, I stayed up till quite late playing cards with the kids. I was quite lucky and won a bit but i purposely lose back the winnings as i don't feel good about winning the kid's Angpow money.

On the third day, we hung out at my wife's grandma place to rest and also attended a buffet dinner at her uncle's place before heading back to JB at night. We reached JB around 10pm and we were both tired out.

Fourth day was the last day of the holidays. We visited my aunt who is bedridden for 2 years plus as she broke her leg and also her husband who is having senile dementia. Quite a pity to see them so but at least their children are quite filial and takes care of them and my aunt seem
quite optimistic as her leg is recovering. Night time we wanted to catch a movie again but could not get the tickets.

Finally it's today. First day back at work and first day on the floor. It's quite a busy day and I'm pretty lost as both my direct superiors are on annual leaves. At least a fellow team manager Celine taught me some stuffs. Also got to know my team members better. I think they all have the potential to do well. Let's hope I do well in my job and lead each of them to be successful.

Check up day 3

Today is the 3rd time i bring my wife for checkup with the gynecologist. This time we can start to see that our baby's shape is forming and we can actually make out the head and body and the small arms and legs much more clearly. Another fascinating thing is when the doctor hits my wife's tummy softly, we can see the baby moving inside. So cool! As usual, i'm glad to see our baby growing up day by day week by week. In fact I am also tracking the pregnancy progress with my Iphone to see how the fetus should be at which month. Guess I am pretty excited bout this as this is my first time to be a Daddy.

Besides that, today had been a rainy day. In fact it had been raining non stop since last night. Some areas in Johor such as Segamat and Labis are starting to flood. What a bad timing for the Chinese families there as Chinese New Year is coming soon. Let's hope the rain stop soon and the flooding stop.

Last but not least, lets take a look at my baby. :D Daddy love you very much baby, and hope to see you soon.

Kiang Ki Bak Kut Teh

Long time no write much. Guess was busy with my lessons and exams in my new job. Anyway, it's finally weekend and Chinese New Year is coming soon. This morning however, I still had to get up early. Why is that so? Cause my wife and her brother and sisters wanted to go Kota Tinggi for Bak Kut Teh. They said that is very delicious and my wife had tried it before too.

We reach there at about 10++am in the morning and there's already a lot of customers there even tho it's at a quite ulu place. We ordered Bak Kut Teh, 'Tau Pok' and 'Mui Choy'. Later on my sister in law added another braised pig trotter. Overall, the food is not bad but it's located quite far away. Well, for food lovers I guess they won't mind traveling there.

Thaipusam

Today is Thaipusam day which is a holiday for Johor state and some other states such as Selangor and others which I can't recall. However, I got to go to work as my company is supporting Singapore side business and Thaipusam is not a holiday in Singapore. So poor us gotta work while all others rest. The only comfort is that we are getting a replacement leave and on top of that, we get double pay. Hooray for the power of money. Hehe. Anyway, my wife is on leave and she went back to her parent's house as tomorrow is her mother's 100 day death memorial where they will be going to pray, get monks and nuns to chant and of course burn her more stuffs. I would had joined them on this, but I am unable to take any leave as I just newly joined the company. Hope my mother in law will understand this in heaven.

Lastly, let me post some pics of the Thaipusam festivals celebration pictures I took as it happen to be outside my office.

Day 2 at work

Today is 2nd day of work at my new place and I was nearly late. Why? First I had tummy ache when I was about to go out this morning. This wasted about 5 mins and then I discover that the shortcut I use was blocked. That cost me another 7 - 8 mins. Worse still today jam was extra bad and that cause me another 10 mins or so. With all this, I actually forgot to bring my bag to work. Talk about a bad day.

I was extra tired today as well as I woke up at 5.50am to send my parents and my aunt & uncle to take bus to Genting. They must be enjoying the cold air at Genting now.

Back to work. Work was pretty normal as usual. Training the whole day with lots of sidetrack on other topics. So it was a pretty ordinary day at work.

After work I got home and cook instant noodle with special add ons for dinner. Want to see the end product? Here you go, Korean Noodle with added mushroom and prawns

My first day at CSOS

Today is my first day at Citigroup Sales and Outsourcing. Kinda lost on the first day and went to Level 23 to find Siva the HR officer for further instruction. I was led to wait in a room and was later joined by another new hire Praveen. Later on we were led to level 26 and met the trainer Hannah.

In the training there were 5 of us which are me, Praveen, Hiji, Nabila and Azwan. They seem pretty friendly and easy going, so I guess training is not too bad.

Today we learn about the credit cards which Citibank Singapore offers. Pretty much basic infos and the training move at a pretty slow pace. Good thing is we were let off at 6pm sharp. Hooray for punctuality. But I guess this won't happen often after the training ends.

Well, I still did not get my season parking done so I guess I will be parking outside tomorrow. Parking in city square is freaking expensive. Lucky I am entitled a season parking by the company.

Oh well, I better go to sleep now. Need to wake up super early tomorrow to send my parents to take bus as they are going to Genting. May God of Fortune be with them, but I doubt they will gamble much anyway.
